Our members attend ongoing training and possess a wide variety of skills. We specialize in fabricating and installing the ductwork used in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, metal roofing and siding, kitchen equipment and all phases of welding.

Recently, this partnership has been successful in completing several of the major projects in Western New York. The Buffalo Airport, Roswell Park, Harbor Center, Ralph Wilson Stadium, Hotel Henry, and the Oishei Hospital are just some of the projects that sheet metal workers have demonstrated their skills and craftsmanship on.

Working together with our contractors, we enjoy a successful business environment and our members enjoy a standard of living which allows them to live comfortably and retire in dignity.

Our Union

Local 71 was granted its International Charter in 1903. Since that time, our craftspeople have been part of Buffalo’s rich architectural heritage. Through the years, sheet metal workers have had their craftsmanship displayed on many of the historic buildings and churches which are still visible today. The Oishei Childrens’ Hospital, Saint Joseph’s Cathedral, UB Jacobs School of Medicine, and Richardson Complex are just a few examples of our membership’s past accomplishments.

 While we still perform specialty exterior sheet metal work, changes in the industry have allowed us to expand into other areas of construction. Currently, we represent over 500 workers who are employed in the various aspects of the trade. By forming a partnership with over 30 different contractors, we have been able to set the standard of quality throughout all phases of the sheet metal industry.
